The gadget maker who recently beat Coca Cola in the Global Product title is at it again with the launch of two new devices, iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina display. The new iPad Air will be a replacement for the familiar 9.7 inch screen iPad. Reduction in weight by 1pound makes iPad Air lighter and sleeker than its predecessor. The new device contains the new 64-bit A7 chip (first seen in the iPhone 5s) and M7 co-processor. According to Apple, the new processors provide twice the CPU and graphics performance as the previous model, all while retaining a 10-hour battery life. Other features include faster 802.11n Wi-Fi with MIMO support; expanded LTE networks; improved FaceTime and iSight cameras; and dual mics for better Siri and audio capture. The new device is expected to carry a price tag of $499 with 16GB Wifi.
The other device, iPad Mini, gets some upgrades on the inside aside from the Retina display. Upgrades include Apple’s 64-bit A7 processor. According to Apple, the new processor makes the Retina iPad mini up to four times as fast as its predecessor for processor-intensive tasks, and up to eight times faster for graphics-intensive ones. The new mini also gains the same upgraded Wi-Fi and camera improvements as the iPad Air. The iPad mini starts at $399 for 16GB Wifi and is expected to be available in November.
