2014 BMW 2-Series to hit showroom

German automaker, BMW, has added 2-Series to its lineup. Available models include 228i and M235i. The two models takes resemblance from the familiar 1-Series Coupe just that the new models are 2.8 inches longer, 1.3 inches wider, and also 1.3 inches wider in wheelbase than the usual 1-Series Coupe. Power in the 228i comes from BMW’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. For the M powered model, M235i, power comes from turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine with 322 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.

From standstill, BMW 228i and M235i attain 5.4 secs and 4.8 secs respectively. Top speed limited to 130 mph for 228i and 150 mph for M235i. Six speed automatic transmission comes standard with an optional 8-speed automatic transmission. According to EPA, fuel economy ratings for the 228i are estimated at 23 mpg city, 35 highway (22/34 mpg for the manual), while the M235i will be rated 22/32 mpg with the automatic or 19/28 with the manual. The models, 228i and M235i, will set you back $33,000 $44,000 respectively.
