It shouldn't be new to you that the use of gadgets such as
mobile phones, computers, pagers, and game consoles are prohibited inside an
airplane. According to what we have lived with for decades, devices like these
they claim cause interference with the signals coming in and going out of the
plane's cockpit communications and navigation equipment. Federal Aviation
Administration, FAA, recently came up with a new regulation that will permit
the use of personal electronics during taxing, take-offs, and landing but
internet connections remain prohibited when the plane is less than 10,000 feet
in the air. Voice calls remain banned during the entire flight. Flight manuals,
crew training and safety briefings will be modified to allow the new policy.
As soon as the new policy is safely implemented, air
travellers will be able to operate their devices but voice calls and internet
will remain prohibited.
Airlines such as Delta Air have adopted the development and
have performed the required tolerance tests on all of its aircraft and have
submitted paperwork to the FAA for its approval. JetBlue Airways soon to adopt
the new policy.
Apparently, the new policy will extend to our Airlines such
as Arik. What do you feel?
